Responsive Web Design (RWD)

Responsive Web Design.Responsive Web Design (RWD) is the result of one of the biggest changes in internet searching. RWD occurred when mobile searches, with smartphones, exceeded desktop searches! This has been a huge change that has happened in just the last few years.

In the middle of 2015 Google announced that it would begin to penalize a website’s organic positioning if those sites were not mobile friendly. This has lead to a rush in the implementation of Responsive Web Design (RWD) coding on millions of existing websites and, certainly the creation of all new sites, with RWD technology.

Responsive web design technology or RWD coding allows the content of a website to be re-sized depending on the device being used to access it. Most web platforms have had the ability to detect the operating system (OS) used to access them whether Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android. The particular version of these systems, like Window 10,  iPhone 7.0, Android 6, etc., as well as their screen resolutions are included. RWD websites now have the ability to resize and otherwise alter their content delivery to match that of the device being used to access them.

Responsive Web Design (RWD)Even before Google announced the penalizing of non-RWD sites, these sites were already at a huge disadvantage because the tremendous increase in users of smartphones and tablets would often get a site so distorted that the bounce rate for these visits was understandably approaching 100%. (Bounce rate is the rate, expressed as a percentage of website visitors who left the site within seconds and without viewing any other than the initial page)

All sites that we design or re-design and build, incorporate Responsive Web Design (RWD) technology and otherwise are sensitive to the other issues where the increasing use of smartphones can be enhanced.
